Hi Marguin,
Thanks for your review.
Tools like the RRP can't remove back-to-back bearings, which is a problem for the main pivots on many Rocky Mountain bikes. We have a similar design here:
www.bearingprotools.com/collections/bearing-pullers-single/products/bearing-puller-wind-out-type
A better choice is our 'wind-out blind puller', which can remove back-to-back bearings, while using a cup to screw the bearing out without a hammer:
www.bearingprotools.com/collections/bearing-pullers-single/products/wind-out-blind-bearing-puller
We use the simpler expanding type puller in our kits because 1) they are cheaper, and 2) they can be used on just about any bearing placement, so are the most versatile design.
Both of the wind-out types above have their place, but in order to use the 'cup', there needs to be a flat surface around the edge of the bearing for the tool's cup to rest on. It's hard for us to advise whether this exists on any given frame, there typically isn't enough info in the frame's drawings for us to confirm, so for the pre-made kits we favour the expanding type puller.
Kind regards,
Jim
