This bearing puller is designed to remove the bearings that feature in many freehubs without a punch or hammer. The bearings are removed in a precise and gentle fashion by tightening the screw to pull the bearings into a cup.
This tool is a hybrid of our wind-out pullers and our expanding blind bearing pullers.
It is suitable for many designs of freehub including DT Swiss, Hope and many others.
The tool consists of one of our expanding pullers sized to fit the bearing, and a cup that fits over the top to draw the puller out. The inside of the cup will be sized to give 1mm clearance all around the bearing. The OD of the cup will be 34mm. There needs to be a flat area around the bearing for this cup to rest on.
This tool can reach bearing's whose face is up to 12mm recessed in from the surface that the 'cup' part of the tool is resting on. If your freehub has two bearings pressed in from the same side (some non-DT designs), the tool may not be able to reach far enough!
How to Use
First, the expanding collet is inserted into the bearing and the nut tightened, causing the collet to grip the inside of the bearing:

Next, the 'cup' part of the tool is placed over the collet and a nut screwed onto the end of the threaded rod:

By inserting a 5mm hex key the expanding collet can be prevented from turning while tightening the nut with a spanner. Tightening the nut draws the expanding collet into the cup:
